Colorful Membrane Umbrella Structure Project for School Reading Corner
A primary school in Zhengzhou planned to renovate an existing courtyard space inside the campus and transform it into an outdoor reading corner for students.
To improve the overall campus environment and create a more comfortable outdoor activity area, the school decided to install several colorful membrane umbrella structures for shading, rain protection, and landscape decoration.
Henan Jingtian was selected to provide the design, steel structure fabrication, and on-site installation work for the project.
Landscape-Oriented Membrane Umbrella Design
Although the project scale was relatively small compared with conventional membrane structure projects, the architectural detail requirements were significantly higher because the structures were intended to serve as landscape features inside the school environment.
The project adopted inverted umbrella membrane structures with colorful membrane surfaces to create a brighter and more visually attractive reading area for students.
Because the umbrella structures used reverse umbrella geometry, waterproof drainage performance became one of the key technical considerations during both the design and fabrication stages.
The project not only needed to provide practical shading and rain protection functions but also had to maintain architectural aesthetics and environmental harmony within the school courtyard.
Steel Structure Fabrication
Henan Jingtian's in-house design department completed the structural design and engineering drawings for the project according to the site requirements and architectural concept.
The steel structure fabrication work was carried out strictly based on the finalized drawings to ensure accurate dimensions, smooth structural curves, and reliable installation quality.
The main supporting structure adopted Q355 steel pipes to provide stable structural performance and long-term outdoor durability.
On-Site Installation
Because the project was located inside an active school campus, the installation process had to avoid normal teaching hours to minimize interference with students and daily school operations.
As a result, the construction work was scheduled during holiday periods and completed with careful coordination and safety management.
Henan Jingtian completed the entire on-site installation process within 3 days.
Final Result
After completion, the colorful membrane umbrella structures significantly improved the visual appearance of the school courtyard and created a comfortable outdoor reading space for students.
The project successfully combined practical shading functions with landscape architectural design, providing students with an attractive and weather-protected reading environment.
