Membrane Structure Canopy Project for Baoquan Scenic Area
Baoquan Scenic Area, one of the well-known national 5A tourist attractions in Henan Province, planned to improve the visitor queue experience by adding outdoor shading facilities in several high-traffic areas of the park.
To ensure harmony between the new structures and the surrounding natural landscape, the project team selected tensile membrane structures as the preferred architectural solution and appointed Henan Jingtian as the project contractor.
Leaf-Inspired Curved Membrane Structure Design
In order to create a lightweight and flowing visual effect that blended naturally into the scenic environment, the designers adopted a leaf-inspired architectural concept for the canopy structure.
The overall membrane canopy system featured smooth curved lines and dynamic freeform geometry, requiring the supporting steel structure to use customized curved steel pipe fabrication technology.
Compared with conventional straight steel structures, the project required more complex steel pipe bending and irregular structural processing to accurately reproduce the intended architectural appearance.
Steel Structure Fabrication
Henan Jingtian carried out the steel structure fabrication work strictly according to the engineering drawings and structural requirements.
The project included multiple curved steel pipe components with customized bending geometry. During the fabrication stage, dimensional accuracy and structural alignment were carefully controlled to ensure smooth installation and final membrane tensioning performance.
The main structure adopted Q235 steel pipes to satisfy both architectural appearance and structural stability requirements.
Mountain Area Transportation and On-Site Installation
One of the major challenges of the project was the transportation and installation process inside the mountainous scenic area.
Because the construction site was located near cliffside areas within the park, material transportation became significantly more difficult than conventional urban construction projects. All steel components and membrane materials had to be transported in batches through winding mountain roads before installation could begin.
Henan Jingtian's installation team coordinated the transportation, positioning, and structural assembly work according to the site conditions and completed the on-site installation process within 10 days.
Final Result
After completion, the membrane structure canopy successfully improved the visitor waiting and queue experience during peak tourism seasons, especially in the summer.
The lightweight curved canopy design blended naturally with the surrounding mountain landscape while providing effective sunshade performance for tourists.
The project has now been put into operation and has achieved excellent practical and visual results within the scenic area.
